This is a small provincial town in southern Cambodia, about 75 km from Phnom Penh, and is often referred to as the cradle of Khmer civilisation. The area of Takeo Province has

become a hotspot of archeological investigation, particularly in the vicinity of the town of Angkor Borei. For those who are interested in Khmer history, a visit to Phnom Da and Angkor Borei are very worthwhile. Takeo is quite dry and dusty in the dry season, but can become inundated in the rainy season.
The Phnom Da hilltop temple and the Angkor Borei Museum are highlights of any visit to Takeo. The temples of Tonle Bati and Phnom Chisor are also located in Takeo and are worth a visit.
