South Vietnam & Cambodia Extension – 9 Days
Itinerary Detail:
Day 1: Saigon Arrival
Upon your arrival in Saigon, you will be greeted by our staff, and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, and having lunch, we go to visit Thien Hau Pagoda, and the Binh Tay Market in China-town, and to end our tour, we visit a famous lacquer-ware factory. In the evening, dinner will feature delicious Saigon cuisine.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City hotel. Dinner included.
Day 2: Saigon - Tay Ninh – Cu Chi Tunnels
In the morning after breakfast we drive through the beautiful countryside to Tay Ninh, the center of the unusual Cao Dai religion. There we learn about this religion which is a mix of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity. Confucianism, and Islam. We observe Cao Dai devotees during their colorful noonday ceremony. After lunch we drive to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground network of tunnels constructed by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City hotel. Breakfast and Lunch included.
Day 3: Saigon - Can Tho, Mekong Delta
After breakfast in the hotel we depart Saigon and head to the village of My Hiep. We then take a 3-hour boat ride and cruise through the Rung Tram Forest. It is one of the last natural forests left in the Mekong Delta, and is a vast swamp with a beautiful canopy of tall trees and vines. The historical significance of the forest is that during the war it was used by the Viet Cong as a base where top VC generals lived in underground bunkers. The base was called Xeo Quyt. After our cruise of the forest, we drive to Vinh Long, and then on to Can Tho.

Day 4: Can Tho - Saigon 
In the morning we will take another boat trip to the bustling Cai Rang Floating Market, which may just be the biggest floating market in the World. We have lunch in Can Tho, and then head back to Saigon. On the way we stop to visit the Vinh Long Market and a Bonsai Garden in My Tho.

Day 5: Saigon - Phnom Penh (International Flight)
In the morning you will have leisure time until we transfer to the airport for the one-hour flight to Phnom Penh. We land at Pochentong International Airport in the afternoon and transfer to our hotel.

After checking in and getting settled, we are off on a city tour to visit the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and The National Museum. After lunch, we visit the Central Market (Phsar Thmei), and the Russian Market. We also visit Wat Phnom, one of the oldest temples in Phnom Penh, and the symbol of the city from which Phnom Penh got its name. With the time remaining you will have time to explore the city on your own, and in the evening you can sample Phnom Penh’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 6: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap
After breakfast we drive to Siem Reap. We check-in to the hotel, and then have lunch. In the afternoon we explore the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, and we see the Bayon Temple, the Baphuon, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. That evening we climb Phnom Bakeng to watch the beautiful sunset. Tonight we have dinner at the restaurant where we enjoy an Apsara dance performance.

Day 7: Siem Reap - Angkor Temples
After breakfast in the hotel, we go to visit Ta Prohm Temple, Ta Keo Temple, Chau Say Tevoda, and Sras Srang Baray. After lunch we visit the most famous ancient religious monument in the world, the majestic Angkor Wat. It was built by Suryavarman II in the early to mid 12
th century, and was originally a Hindu temple to the god Vishnu. This breathtakingly beautiful temple was constructed at the height of Khmer political and military power in the region.

Day 8: Siem Reap – Angkor Temples – Kbal Spean
In the morning after breakfast, we drive 25 km out of Siem Reap to see the Banteay Srey Temple, often translated as the Citadel of Women. It is built of pink sandstone and contains some of the most beautiful and graceful stone carvings of all Angkor temples. We have a picnic lunch near the site, and then continue on to Kbal Spean. This is the river of a thousand lingas, with the phallic symbols of the god Shiva carved into the riverbed. After we arrive at the parking area, it is a 45 minute walk through the forest to the river.

Day 9: Siem Reap Departure
After breakfast today it will be time to prepare for your departure transfer for your flight home, or your onward adventure travel.
