Quang Ngai Travel Guide
Quang Ngai is located near the coast between Tam Ky to the north and Qui Nhon to the south, and is the provincial capital.

What To See & Do

Unfortunately, the city has almost no attractions to offer. But having said that, for those who are interested in the history and brutality of the Vietnam War, Quang Ngai is one place you will want to vist. The reason for this is because 10km outside of Quang Ngai is the museum at nearby Son My. Why is this so important? Because Son My was named My Lai during the war, and was the scene of the most infamous massacre of the war. The museum commemorates the killing of 504 unarmed villagers by American forces in 1968. This incident, known as the My Lai Massacre, was a catalyst that galvanized the American people against the Vietnam War.
Most people visit the museum as a stop along the way to somewhere else, but this can make for a long trip. If you do want to stay in the area of Quang Ngai, you can stay at nearby My Khe Beach. My Khe is a nice beach compared to other beaches along the coast, and is only 2km from the museum.
As a place to see, there is a Buddhist Monastery called Thien An on a hill overlooking Quang Ngai. Also the small fishing village of Tinh Ky with a beautiful white, deserted beach is about 13kms from Quang Ngai.

When To Go
Probably the best time to go is around December when it is not so hot, and there are few tourists.
