Rach Gia Travel Guide
Located in the northwest part of the Mekong Delta, Rach Gia is a somewhat large and spread out town, but most of the city is centered on an island in the Cai Lon River.
Most hotels and restaurants are concentrated between Tran Phu St. and Rach Gia Park which is approx. in the middle of the island. The northern part of the park is on the riverside, and a bridge from the park goes over the river, and on the other side, is the police station, and a VietCom bank with an ATM. The dock for boats to Phu Quoc Island is also on this side of the river.

What To See & Do
There is not much in Rach Gia for visitors to see or do, and in fact it has a rather laid-back and easy-going air to it. Most visitors are either going to Phu Quoc Island, or passing through on their way to Ha Tien at the Cambodian border. However, if for some reason you do stay overnight here, there are a few decent hotels, and a few not-so-bad places to eat.

Getting To Phu Quoc Island
If you are going to PhuQuoc, and you are doing it on your own, there are two ways to get there; by air or by ferry. For most people, the best way to get there is by ferry, and of course it is also the cheapest option. In the high (dry) season, there are ferries that leaving at different times during the day. However, in the wet season, schedules can be cancelled because boats do not operate when there are storms or inclement weather.
If you prefer to fly, there are flights from Saigon, or Rach Gia. There are several daily flights to and from the island, but they are sometimes fully booked, especially if the boats aren’t running.
